I posted a memo above, but forgot to add that I had scarlet fever in 1947 and after reading this article, I know I was at the Infectious Disease Hospital at the time, somewhere around Front & Lehigh. It would be interesting to find out about other children there at the time. I was there for six weeks between Thanksgiving and New Year’s – 1947-48. My husband was also there before me in 1943 with the brother. My parents were allowed to visit. I remember black curtains on the windows at times.

I remember being in an Infectious Disease Hospital when I was in lst grade. I think it was at Front St. in Philadelphia. What is there now?

My last name was Steiner and as a child I was taken in a van with other childern to the hospital .
at Second and Luzerne St. Phila.Pa. I was taken to a large room and given Medication and then put in a large room with other children. Later I was taken and put in a small house on the grounds. I do not know how long I was there . I do remenber being put in a very hot tub of water, why I don’t know.
I remenber my mon comming to see me but she could not come into the room. I think I was there for a long time. I remember when I got home my mom had the Easter Baskets set up for me.

I had scarlet fever.

I have been told that sometime around 1935,my sister along with neighborhood children (infected ) were collected in a van and taken to hospital while the rest of us were . quarantined in our house.

Possibly measles ?? Philadelphia Pa
