La feria sanitaria de Filadelfia también conocido como la gran feria central era el pináculo de todas las ferias sanitarias de la cual fue la única que habló el president Abraham Lincoln. Como dice en el marcador, las mujeres tuvieron un papel grande en organizar las ferias sanitarias. Dentro de la comisión sanitaria, las muerejes de Pensilvania tuvieron su propia organización llamada la filial de mujeres de Pensilvania y fue prinicpalmente organizada por mujeres de Filadelfia. Llegó un punto cuando la filial de las mujeres de Pensilvania tenía 320 asociaciónes que juntaron fondos y articulos para el saneamiento de los soldados. Ellas puntaron los artiículos que las mujeres colectaron. En enero de 1864 algunos de los artículos fueron 3 lavadoras, 841 platos de lata, 557 juegos, 112 tirantes y no olvidemos de los 110 de botellas de ron jaimacino. Mientras que yo estaba investigando este marcardor, enonctré una noticia escrita por la Señora Ephraim Clark que era la presidenta de la asocación de costureras con la dirección de 247 South 18th St. animando otras mujeres a unir con otras acosaciónes de costureras para proveer ropa y lino para los soldados. También con la investigación vi que las mujeres podían participar en la comisión sanitaria estadounidense pero los Afroamericanos no. La iglesia de St. Thomas African Episcopal Church ubicada en 6361 Lancaster Avenue formó su propio grupo para ayudar las necesidades sanitarias de los soldados minoritarios. […]
