He was most definitely concern about the welfare of colored children’s education, he saw the only way for us to ever be who we are is education. Reading and writing was extremely important in those days. Either you got your education and move on or you didn’t and you live poor without housing, shelter or food. The man worked his but off! — if I was in those days, I would have been fighting too for the liberation and freedom of our people from slavery. The war was a tough cookie and the Union battled to defeat slavery forever and Catto, was in the center of attraction! If these people could just see the ignorance prejudice to the taste is some of his words. some say he was a sexist, but that’s not true. He was a respectable and a gentleman!
